One Thousand Cranes
As I was doing my daily blog reading, I came across this post by futuregirl. I was instantly moved by Pam’s project of collecting 1,000 origami cranes for her former classmate, Jen, who was diagnosed with a brain tumor. Although I’m not acquainted with these women personally, I was touched and am very familiar with the Japanese legend of 1,000 cranes.
“An ancient Japanese legend promises that anyone who folds a thousand origami cranes will be granted a wish by a crane, such as long life or recovery from illness or injury.”
I happen to have folded 122 (I know, random number) cranes so I’ll be sending those off today. If you’d like to make and send some cranes, you can find more info here.
i folded cranes for Jen too! you are hardcore. I could only fold about a dozen before my fingers were hurting.
