Yup! Last month, I turned the big 3-0! My family and friends surprised me with a beautiful pink and gold themed birthday party! 😀
I originally started planning a small party early, even made a Pinterest board!, knowing that everyone’s December dates get filled up with Christmas plans. But as my birthday got closer, I got busier with work and everyone I had mentioned my birthday party plans to were less than interested in celebrating with me. A bit bummed, I told Brandon I just wanted our family to be together no matter what we did. So we drove down to Orange County the night of the 20th and spent my first 3 hours of my birthday driving to my mom’s house. Exciting, right? 😉 Later that morning, Brandon just randomly left saying he needed to get a haircut from my sister. What?! It was so unlike him and he left Bruce and me for 6 hours saying he decided to stop by his friend’s place! I was less than thrilled – pissed, really.
When my mom got home, she cheered me up by taking us all out to dinner, including Shizuka. We had an amazing sushi dinner at Murasaki and we shared so many laughs, I totally forgot about everything that happened earlier:
Too much fun that the photos came out all blurry! 😉
It was the perfect way to end my birthday. Thank you, Mommy! The next morning, my mom said that my dad and Kaori wanted to have a birthday lunch with me since they couldn’t come to the dinner. She emphasized it was an adult-only place so Brandon had to stay home with Bruce. I was totally confused as to why they would choose such a place but she insisted that it was this super fancy restaurant at the beach. I suggested we could go to a family-friendly place so we can all go, but I couldn’t convince her. So my mom and I headed over to my dads to pick him up. I needed to use the restroom so I entered his house and was welcomed with a loud, “SURPRISE!” with pink balloons!
I immediately teared up and it took me a minute to realize what was going on while repeatedly saying, “oh my gosh!”
I was completely surprised and all the things that weren’t going well prior to my birthday were all making sense – like Brandon disappearing and everyone not being interested in my initial birthday plans. They had all fooled me! They had taken a look at my Pinterest board and made it come alive! Yes, that’s right, my husband now searches for recipes and such on Pinterest! Haha! My dad’s house was decorated beautifully in pink in gold:
Even the desserts fit perfectly well with the theme. And the cake, oh the cake! It was by far my favorite cake that Kaori’s ever made!
Can you see in the photo above that everyone was wearing pink? Even the boys! 😀 Shizuka gave me a gift box after the surprise and it was a white dress to wear for the occasion. How thoughtful and perfect, no? ❤
It was the best birthday party I’ve ever had, surrounded by everyone I love. Thank you to all my friends and family who made this a day I hope to remember forever:
Oh yes, for entertainment and to capture the moment, Brandon rented out a Pink Shutter photo booth and we all had a blast taking silly pictures. 😀 Best. Birthday. Ever. Thank you!
Lots of Smiles,
